My Fitness Journey as a New Mommy

Four years ago when I walked down the isle in my white wedding dress I was happy with my weight and size, not necessarily my fitness level.

I have never really pushed myself in that area. When I was a child I was always over weight, same thing in my early teen years. I finally started focusing on losing the weight because I wanted to wear all the cute clothes all the other girls my age were wearing.

I had always heard that after you get married you "gain the weight" I thought no not me, just hubby will gain (he is a runner and has been since high school and needed to gain some). Well I gained right along with him. It was slow, but when I tried getting into my wedding dress one day I realized just how much I was gaining.

Over time I had gained 30lbs.

So we deiced to start working on our weight, health, fitness, ect. I never made any real progress that I could tell, hubby would keep encouraging me and I would continue. Finally I made a plan to lose so much weigh by such in such time. I found that logging everything I ate and drank really made me more accountable and I starting noticing a difference, lost 20lbs.

About five months into my fitness challenge/changes I found out I was pregnant with our first. I had no idea what to expect, but I had it set in my mind that I could not gain any weight, that it was not acceptable. At around seven weeks the sickness hit and hit HARD!!!! Oh my goodness, it was awful!!!! I know most of you out there know what I mean. Well that was the end to my fitness routine. Sadly I found myself hovering over the toilet, sleeping in the bathroom floor, lounging on the couch all day everyday for weeks. It just would not go away. Finally around twenty four weeks I starting feeling much better. Had more energy and an appetite, but the motivation for exercising was gone. It was cold out and I had nothing to wear and really didn't want to get out there and "waddle". During my pregnancy I gained 50lbs! I was so discouraged.

Four days after the delivery I got on a scale and to my delightful surprise I had lost 30lbs just from having the baby. That meant I only had 20lbs to lose and then I would be back at my pre-pregnancy weight, that would be easy I thought. Well here I am 5 1/2 month postpartum and I have only lost 5lbs. I am now more than ever ready to kick butt and get fit! So heres my plan: eat healthier, exercise at least five days a week, cut down on the sugar and burn, burn, burn those calories. I really want to lose that 20lbs and an extra 20 before New Years.

I have been fixing myself a smoothie for breakfast several days a week now for oh, about two weeks and I find that they are wonderful! I don't feel like I ate a greasy artery clogging meal or a bowl of sugar. Instead its a glass of fresh fruit and nutrition. I use about a cup of fruit juice, half cup fresh fruit and half to whole cup of frozen fruit.

The fruit varies depending on what I have in the house. I also like to add a half tablespoon of Brewers Yeast to help my milk supply while I'm at it.

Wiz...it...up...

...yum...

So I did my first day of interval running from this months new challenge and I must say it was some hard stuff for this momma! Was pushing my little one in the jogging stroller, thats one thing you take for granted before becoming a mommy, FREE HANDS. Anyway I am really excited about this challenge and plan on going all the way with it. Like I mentioned earlier my hubby is a runner and I want to show him I can do it!

Here's to becoming a fit sexy Mommy!
